Gasthof Alt Paznaun in Ischgl – Tirol

We could go back a long way in the history of Ischgl and if we do, we will find, as in almost all alpine villages, that the first settlements were in safe locations in the vicinity of a church. This is also how Ischgl developed and the oldest houses today are located around the Ischgl church of St. Nikolaus. Our guesthouse, 'Gasthof Alt Paznaun', is also one of them.

The house was first documented in 1681. At that time, it belonged to the Idhof, one of the five fiefs of the Marienberg monastery in Vinschgau - South Tyrol. In the centuries that followed, the house was extended and expanded by merchant families to become what was known as the "Large House in the Inner Village". Our wonderful Paznaun stone pine parlours date back to these ancient and bygone times, which have been lovingly and carefully restored in our guest rooms. After an ancestor bought a large part of the house many decades ago, it remained in the family for generations, the house was eventually rebuilt and continues to be used as a business home. The new "Large house in the inner village" is now home to our Gasthof Alt Paznaun.
